Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with Heung-Min Son’s brace cancelling out Cristian Romero’s own goal and Bukayo Saka’s penalty.
Gary Neville was commentating on the game and was far from pleased after Gunners striker Eddie Nketiah lunged in at Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as the Italian tried to play a pass out from the back.
The Englishman was yellow-carded for the challenge and Neville could not believe what he saw from the Arsenal star.
“It was never there for him and I was really shocked he lunged in there and that is not a good one there…,” the Sky Sports pundit said.
Nketiah remained on the pitch for the entirety of the game while Gabriel Jesus and Saka were withdrawn for Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe, respectively.
The 24-year-old received his first booking of the season in the North London derby given that it was a feisty affair, with the likes of Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Destiny Udogie, Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma and Romero also getting into the referee’s bad books.
Arsenal would feel hard done by with the draw and would feel they should have done better.
They lost Declan Rice and Fabio Vieira to injuries at half-time, with Jorginho and Havertz coming on for them, respectively.
Arsenal have found themselves four points behind Manchester City after six Premier League games having drawn twice and won their other four games.
They return to action on Wednesday when they face Brentford in the Carabao Cup before returning to Premier League action on Saturday with a trip to Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth.
