According to Punch, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as the chairman of a seven-member committee tasked with conducting the primary election to select the party’s governorship candidate in Edo State.
This announcement was made by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday.
Governor Uzodimma will be supported by the Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, who has been named Deputy Chairman of the committee.
Other members of the committee include former Osun State deputy governor, Mrs Titilayo Laoye-Tomori; APC’s flagbearer in the Plateau State 2023 governorship election, Nentanwe Yilwatde Goshwe; Umar Musa; Lawan Garba; and Rabiu Suleiman, who will serve as the Secretary.
Additionally, the APC has constituted an appeal committee for the governorship primary election, with C.C. Udenwa appointed as chairman and Yunusa Mohammed as Secretary.
Other members of the appeal committee include Muhammad Zakaria Sarina; Udogu Anthony Chijoke; and Muhammad Garin Ali.
The nominated members of both the Primary Election Committee and the Election Appeal Committee for Edo State will be inaugurated on Thursday, 15th of February, 2024, at the party’s National Working Committee Hall at 4 pm.
This development follows the clearance of all 12 aspirants vying for the APC ticket to contest the upcoming Edo governorship election. Among the cleared aspirants are Gideon Ikhine, Clem Agba, Prof Oserheimen Osunbor, Monday Okpebholo, Lucky Imasuen, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Anamero Dekeri, Blessing Agbohmere, Dennis Idahosa, Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, Col. David Imuse, and Major General Charles Airhiavbere (retd).
