According to a report by This Day, the internet disruption that has been witnessed across Nigeria was caused by a submarine cable Cut in the Red Sea of the Atlantic Ocean. It is important to point out that the Red sea is an inlet of the Indian ocean that lies between the African continent and the Asian continent. Part of this sea is connected to the Atlantic Ocean. It should also be said that the federal republic of Nigeria has a border with the Atlantic Ocean.
The same source reports that the cables that were cut are usually responsible for the distribution of internet signals to numerous countries around Africa in general and West Africa in particular. It is important to point out that Nigeria is not the only country that has been affected by this situation.
This Day reports that other African countries like Ghana, Ivory Coast and Liberia have also witnessed internet disruption for some days now.
