It was sheer divine providence that saved the rider and passengers inside a tricycle popularly known as Keke in Lagos on Tuesday as the driver of a bus lost control due to brake failure, ramming into the tricycle and two other vehicles.
The accident occurred around 8:00 a.m. at Canoe Roundabout in the Ajao Estate area when the driver of the LT bus suddenly lost control as a result of brake failure, ramming into the tricycle, and destroying it in the process.
It was gathered that both the rider and the passengers of the tricycle jumped out before the bus rammed into it after they discovered that the driver had lost control and this was what saved them from untimely death.
The impact of the accident caused the tricycle to be totally damaged while an escort vehicle had its front parts damaged ostensibly after it hit the Toyota Sienna in front of it which also suffered a minor damage.
The accident was announced by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on its X handle on Tuesday, which added that policemen from the Ajao Division were at the scene of the accident for evaluation while its officers are also on ground to control traffic along the road.
LASTMA wrote: “Multiple accident involving LT Bus that had brake failure at Canoe Roundabout. Police officers from Ajao Station are on ground for evaluation before evacuation.
“Our officers are also on scene managing the situation effectively.”
