The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the suspension of the evaluation and accreditation of degree certificates obtained from universities in Benin Republic and Togo. This decision was made in response to an investigative report by Daily Nigerian Newspaper titled “UNDERCOVER: How DAILY NIGERIAN reporter bagged Cotonou varsity degree in 6 weeks” published last week. The report revealed that some Nigerians use fraudulent means to obtain degrees from these countries in order to secure job opportunities for which they are not qualified. The suspension will remain in place while an investigation is conducted involving the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education, the Department of State Security Services (DSS), and the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC).
