BREAKING: The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has decided to lift the economic sanctions that were imposed on Niger, Mali and Guinea. The decision has been taken to support the smooth transition of power in these countries.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has lifted the economic sanctions that were imposed on Niger Republic, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Guinea.

The decision was adopted on Saturday, February 24, in Abuja during the extraordinary summit on the political, security, and peace conditions in the ECOWAS subregion.

The regional bloc, however, said the political and targeted sanctions remain.
