There is currently a political crisis in Zamfara State House of Assembly as the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, is facing imminent impeachment pending any unexpected changes or political interventions. The majority of the Assembly members, which is more than two-thirds of the lawmakers (totaling 18), have signed an official impeachment notice.

Reports indicate that the Assembly complex in Gusau is heavily guarded as armed police personnel have taken positions at the entrance gate. The heightened security measures aim to prevent any potential disruption of law and order.

It is worth noting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) constitutes the Majority in the Seventh Zamfara State House of Assembly, which was inaugurated on June 13th, 2023.
