On Tuesday, January 9th, Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, will reportedly face the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged cash transfer scandal involving the transfer of an undisclosed amount of money.
President Bola Tinubu suspended Edu on Monday pending the outcome of the investigation into the alleged crime. On the same day, Sadiya Farouq, Edu’s predecessor, was also being investigated by the EFCC over a separate N37.1 billion laundering allegation that dates back to her time under former President Buhari. Farouq was still being questioned at the EFCC headquarters as of 6 pm on Monday.
