The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has begun a nationwide protest against the current living conditions in the country. The President of the Congress, Mr. Joe Ajaero, announced on Monday that the union would be organizing a peaceful rally to express their grievances over the deteriorating economic crisis and high cost of living in the country.
In a statement to journalists, Ajaero emphasized that it is the responsibility of both parties to ensure the protest remains peaceful. He called on the federal government to provide security to members of the union as part of their fundamental rights as enshrined in the Constitution. He also stated that members of the union will march to national and state assemblies across the country to submit their demands to lawmakers and government officials.
“The rally goes on, but it’s part of the government’s constitutional responsibility to ensure that the rally is peaceful. On our part, we will do everything possible to maintain peace during the rally,” said Ajaero.
