A vessel suspected of involvement in crude oil theft in Bayelsa State has been intercepted by operatives from Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd (TSSNL). The group is led by Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo. This is the second time such an apprehension has been made in recent weeks. The vessel, named MT Harbour Spirit, has an IMO number of 8226272 and is currently anchored at Tantita’s facility in Oporoza, which is the headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State.
Previously, in January, TSSNL had arrested another vessel – MT Kali (number 8782800) – in collaboration with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The vessel was accused of transporting a large amount of illegally obtained crude oil from the offshore Sokebolou Field base in Bayelsa.
