The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced the passing of Dr. Thomas Maurice Asuquo John, a former Group Managing Director (GMD) and Acting Alternate Chairman of the Board of the defunct Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), at the age of 84. Dr. John was a highly respected administrator and oil & gas industry professional.
He served as the 5th GMD of NNPC, succeeding the late Dr. Aret Adams from April 1990 to June 1992. Additionally, he held other positions such as Non-Executive Director, at South Atlantic Petroleum (SAPETRO), Executive Chairman, at Hydropec Engineering Services Ltd., and former Non-Executive Director, at United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc.
The GCEO of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Mele Kyari, expresses his deepest condolences to Dr. John’s dear wife, family, friends, and relatives during this very difficult time.
