It is common knowledge that a civil society organization urged the Senate President to reveal a serving senator allegedly involved in sponsoring kidnappings and ransom-taking in the North Central parts of Nigeria.
In an interview with TVC, lawyer Olatunbosun Osifowora advised against approaching the Senate directly, emphasizing that investigative agencies like the EFCC, police, and the attorney general’s office are responsible for handling such matters.
He stated that beyond the President, Vice President, governors, and deputy governors, no one is immune from prosecution.
He said instead of creating chaos in the Senate, the organization should present evidence to the appropriate agencies and whoever is found guilty would be brought to book.
In Osifowora’s words:
“Beyond the President, Vice President, Governor and Deputy governor nobody has immunity from prosecution under the law.
So in that regard, let them go with the necessary information to the appropriate quarters and I assure you that the person will be picked”.
