South Africans have been calling for the government to close all the shops that are owned by foreigners. This is because they claim that those people sell fake things and rotten food. A few weeks ago, this call just sparked because three primary school kids died after eating snacks that were bought in a foreign-owned shop. After the investigation, it was found that those snacks were poisoned with unknown substances.
Just yesterday, there was another story about a first-grade learner who died after eating biscuits that she bought from a foreign shop. The kid was a learner at Mandlethu Primary School, which is located in Tsakane. Following all that, outraged Tsakane residents are looting spaza shops owned by foreign nationals in response to the death of a grade 1 Mandlethu Primary School learner who died after allegedly consuming cookies purchased from a nearby spaza shop.
Yesterday, more than three shops were looted, and some were burned to the ground. So far, no one has been declared injured; they are not harassing anyone but just looting foreign stores. Tsakane residents are not showing any remorse; they are threatening that all shops that are owned by foreigners will be shut down, and if necessary, blood will be shed. Now the situation is still stable because police are on sight.
When a few of the foreigners who own shops in the area were interviewed, they denied that they sell fake and expired things. What is even surprising is that residents are looting the same food that they are saying is fake and rotten. In my opinion, South Africa’s Africans are just vandals; they like resolving everything through a fight. There are people who are always waiting for this kind of thing to happen so that they can steal and loot; this is a bad habit.
