Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election, expressed his support for private investment in the power sector after the commissioning of the newly-built 188MW Geometric Power Plant in Aba, Abia State. In a post on his Twitter handle on Thursday, he stated that Aba Power Limited, which is a subsidiary of Geometric Power, has taken a long time in coming but the much-needed electricity to unleash the full potentials of Aba, the industrial and commercial centre of Abia, will surely make up for the long wait.
Atiku also emphasized the significance of this milestone as it improves people’s access to electricity and thereby enhances the overall quality of life of the people of Abia. He urged the people of Abia to be thankful for this privilege, considering that over 40% of Nigeria’s 220 million people do not have access to electricity.
