The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has demanded that those seeking his removal from office provide evidence of any offenses he has committed. Lagos Reporters had reported that there was a plot to commence impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara today, but this was prevented by a fire explosion at the Rivers State House of Assembly during the early hours of today. Speaking to the press at the assembly complex, Governor Fubara denied any wrongdoing and asked the Rivers State House of Assembly to tell the people of Rivers what offenses he has committed that would warrant impeachment.
He assured the people of Rivers that he would continue to ensure that they receive the dividends of democracy and promised to address the press at the appropriate time.
