The four major blood groups are O, A, B, and AB. Anti-B antibodies in the plasma and A antigens on the RBCs characterize blood group A. Anti-A antibodies are present in plasma with blood types that include B antigens. Group AB blood has both A and B antigens but no antibodies. Finally, plasma from people with blood type O contains both anti-A and anti-B antibodies but no antigens.
To make matters more complicated, each of these four groups is further divided into two groups, bringing the total number of blood groups to 8. All of your blood group characteristics are fixed by the genes you receive from your parents. That’s right; there are just two possible RhD statuses for blood groups, positive and negative.
Rh System
Antigens are a type of protein found in red blood cells, which are present in the blood. Having it in your body makes your blood group RhD positive, whereas not having it makes your blood group RhD negative, as illustrated below.

Those with blood type O have a distinct advantage over everyone else. People with blood type O-negative can safely transfuse all other blood types, making them invaluable in times of crisis. This is because it does not contain any of the incompatible B, A, or RhD antigens.
One of the drawbacks of being a member of blood group OO is that you can only get blood transfusions from people with the same blood type as yourself. Moreover, they are likely to have an increase in the prevalence of illnesses including ulcers, thyroid dysfunction, and inadequate amounts of thyroid synthetics.
