Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has appointed Ali Dalori as its National Vice President (North) to replace Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security.
Kyari and national women’s leader Betta Edu resigned from the APC National Work Committee (NWC) after being appointed ministers by President Bola Tinubu.
Dalori’s appointment was announced on Wednesday by the Party’s national secretary, Ajibola Basiru.
The new vice president served as the president of the Borno State APC.
In addition, Mary Idele replaced Mrs. Edu, who is now Minister of Humanitarian Affairs. Mrs. Idele is from Edo State.
Garba Datti, a former member of the House of Representatives, has been appointed Vice President (Northwest). Datti replaces Salihu Lukman, who resigned a few weeks ago.
Other appointees are the National Legal Adviser, AbdulKarim Kana; the National Secretary of Social Welfare, Donatus Nwankpa; The Undersecretary of National Publicity, Duro Meseko and the Secretary of Zonal Organization (Central North Zone), Ikani Okolo.
Two weeks ago, a former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, assumed the position of national president of APC. He replaced Abdullahi Adamu, who resigned a few weeks earlier.
In addition, Basiru replaced Iyiola Omisore, who also resigned from his position.
Messrs. Adamu and Omisore emerged as party officials at its March 2022 convention.
