Chuks Ibegbu, a former spokesman for Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s appointments so far, calling them lopsided. In an interview with a national newspaper, Ibegbu reminded Tinubu that he is now the president of all sections of the country, including those who did not vote for him. He advised the president that his appointments must reflect the nation’s geographical and ethnic diversities.
Ibegbu added that he will not applaud Tinubu’s appointments as he had expected him to improve on what the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, had done. When asked about Ohanaeze’s support for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the last general election, Ibegbu noted that the Obi project was not an ethnic project and that it would have been a calamity if the Igbo apex body had not supported its son.
Ibegbu further stated that since the election is over, they have no reason to be enemies with President Tinubu.
