Clem Agba, the immediate past Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, has criticized the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State held on Saturday. The election was disrupted by some thugs and produced two governorship candidates.

Agba, who contested in the election and lost to Dennis Idahosa, a member of the House of Representatives, said that the votes of APC members did not count during the party’s primary election in Edo State. He issued a statement claiming that the primary election fell short of the minimum standard required for democratic elections.

According to Agba, based on the “authentic” turnout of voters during the exercise, he won the primary election. He also said that thousands of loyal party members were disenfranchised, and the processes of the election were compromised. This undermines the principles of democracy and fair play.

The former minister stated that he will not be part of a process that robs the mass of loyal party members of their inalienable right to vote. He thanked everyone who supported him and promised to continue fighting for a better future for Edo State.
