The people of Nigeria are expressing their dissatisfaction with the recent decision of the tribunal to remove the Kano Governor from office. They believe that this action is unjust and unfair.
There are varying opinions regarding the ruling of the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which removed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from his position on Wednesday. The tribunal also declared the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the March 18th state election.
According to reports, the three-member panel ordered the withdrawal of the certificate of return that was previously presented to Governor Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) by INEC.
The All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate, Nasir Gawuna, has been granted the certificate of return by the tribunal. As part of its ruling, the court invalidated 165,663 votes from Gov Yusuf’s total, citing the lack of stamps or signatures on the ballot papers.
Over in Bauchi State, the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal confirmed the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18th governorship election. The tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar. The tribunal found no strong grounds to nullify the election, as it was conducted in compliance with the law.
