On January 18, 2024, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, stated that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and FAAN offices will be moving from Abuja to Lagos.
According to Channel Television, as a result of the motion’s ongoing contentious discussions around the country, the Northern Senators Forum (NSF) expressed its displeasure and threatened to engage the executive branch.
The proposed move of several Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and Central Bank of Nigeria offices from Abuja to Lagos, according to Senator Ali Ndume, representing the Borno South Senatorial District, is entirely different from what we had pledged.
He stated that he believes President Bola Tinubu made a mistake in doing such a thing.
In an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, he addressed the matter and stated that the president is receiving bad advice from “the wrong people” in the halls of power, and that if he didn’t care, they would destroy his government.
According to him, it wasn’t a good idea to move the CBN and FAAN because it doesn’t operate that way. But I think Mr. President will consider this and change his mind.
Expert says that if Mr. President sticks to his beliefs, the state may suffer more than he anticipated; political repercussions as well as increased living expenses will result from this.
