A former Governor of Edo State and a lawmaker in the National Assembly, Adams Oshiomhole, has, during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme,
insisted that Nigeria is not the only country that is faced with economic challenges; as he noted that he has seen American middle class citizens lamenting that they could not pay their bills.
The lawmaker had said,
“Now, there would always be a time lag between when policies are formulated, when they are put in place, and when the benefits of those policies begin to manifest, it can never be a six months programme, unfortunately, I wish it can be faster, but it can’t be.
What has also compounded this problem is the fact that at this point in time, most countries around the world, developed and developing, they are experiencing, their citizens are experiencing various levels of hardship.
I have traveled to the US, and I watch TVC — I mean, CNN and I see American middle class people talking about challenges of paying their bills; I have seen a British guy lamenting on BBC talking about I can’t afford my breakfast anymore, so I have to cut down to two meals per day.”
