The Labour Party LP’s candidate for governor of Lagos state in 2023, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour, has responded to remarks made by former governor of Lagos state Babatunde Raji Fashola, who suggested that Nigerians should consider whether they are placing too much expectation on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Babatunde Raji Fashola stated that the Nigerian president is not constitutionally authorised to pay for rent, businesses, water, etc. during a Q&A portion of a widely shared video.
In response to the remarks made by the former governor of Lagos state, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour stated that development and prosperity cannot be achieved by a party that feels its policies have no bearing on the expense of living or that the president has no influence over the ease of doing business.
In his words,
“Honestly, i want to ask you this question: do you genuinely think that a party that believes it’s policies have no impact on the cost of living, or that a president has no role to play in the ease of doing business, can deliver progress and prosperity to the Nigerian people?. And if this is the best among them, you have to be terrified at how worse things are likely to get for Nigerians”.
