During the inauguration of the Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebo road construction in the Kwali area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, former Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, emphasized his commitment to preserving the financial integrity of Area Councils. He assured the public that, in his role as Minister, he has consistently opposed the misappropriation of Area Council funds.
Directing his message to the Area Council Chairmen, Wike urged them to concentrate on providing services to their constituents, expressing his support for their efforts.
He clarified that he has never given directives or endorsed any mishandling of Council funds, a stance maintained during his governorship and continued in his current ministerial position.
Challenging anyone to dispute his dedication, Wike asserted,
“I challenge anybody, rather when they have a problem, I call them, which area do you think we can help and we have always done that.”
He stressed the importance of prioritizing the welfare of the people and encouraged the Area Council Chairmen to fulfill their responsibilities diligently.
As the FCT Minister, Wike committed to offering ongoing assistance to ensure the people’s interests remain a top priority. His unwavering commitment to financial transparency serves as a reassurance to the citizens of the FCT that their Area Council funds are secure under his vigilant oversight.
