During an interview with ChannelsTV on Tuesday night, Felix Morka, the national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), attributed Nigeria’s current socio-economic challenges to past administrations. Morka stated that the economic problems that President Bola Tinubu-led administration is working to tackle were created generationally. He maintained that Nigeria’s economy had been relying on a single item since independence, and this was one of the major problems. According to data, the economy would soon improve under the Tinubu administration.
Morka pointed out that the problems faced by Nigeria today were not created by a single administration but were created generationally. He questioned how a country with over 200 million people could rely solely on one product that was also susceptible to domestic and international market fluctuations. He emphasized the need for Nigerians to create passive incomes and multiple streams of income to make ends meet.
Morka acknowledged that during Jonathan’s administration, Nigeria was doing pretty well, producing about two million barrels per day. However, under Buhari’s administration, the country lost its capacity to produce due to various factors. The current administration has been working to address these issues, but there is no magic wand that can solve all the problems at once.
