Former Senator Elisha Abbo has claimed that Justice Chioma Nwosu, a nominee for the Supreme Court, nullified the outcomes of 253 polling units where he emerged victorious during her tenure as an Appeal Court Judge.
Supporting his assertion with Form EC8A result sheets, he argued that a specific election result was invalidated due to a discrepancy where figures were initially written in words instead of numerals, prompting Justice Nwosu to annul the results. According to Abbo, this particular result reflected his win with 172 votes for the speaker and 68 for the opposition.
Abbo pointed out another instance where his 75-vote victory was invalidated because the space for a non-participating political party was left blank. Allegedly, Justice Chioma questioned why zero was not written for that party, resulting in the cancellation of the entire ward result.
Abbo expressed concern that the judge’s decisions were not only annulling election results but also influencing the revision of electoral laws and INEC guidelines through her judgments.
During an interview with Arise TV, Abbo remarked,
“253 polling units election results where I won was canceled by Justice Chioma Nwosu. And I have the Form EC8A result sheets. A particular election result sheet was canceled and the reason is because the person who was supposed to write in figures, he wrote in words. So he went on to cancel the word and wrote in figure, she said they canceled the results. In this result, I got 172 here and the opposition got 68.”
