It is common knowledge that the Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Ohanenye, recently came under fire for inviting her fellow ministers to her husband’s birthday celebration with the headed letter sheet of the Ministry of Women Affairs.
In an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Mic On Podcast, Chidi Odinkalu, a lawyer and former NHRC chairman, highlighted the inappropriateness of using the ministry’s underfunded resources for a private celebration.
He questioned the logic behind the move, pointing out the challenges faced by the already underfunded ministry.Odinkalu

“How do you fund the birthday of a man with resources of the Ministry of Women Affairs? I could go on about this situation and the cabinet is dreadful,
I am sorry. Let us accept that the cabinet is not configured for delivery, it is configured for politics”.
