The Supreme Court affirmed Governor Ahmad Fintri’s electoral victory in Adamawa State.
The court criticized the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner for declaring another candidate as the winner, stating that only the returning officer has the authority to announce results.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani, had contested Fintri’s victory, but the Tribunal and Court of Appeal upheld the outcome.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) celebrated the Supreme Court’s judgment, considering it a victory for democracy and the expressed will of the people.
The PDP praised Governor Fintri’s leadership and called for the prosecution of the suspended REC for alleged involvement in manipulating the election against the people’s will.
