In a bold statement, the National Mandate Group (NMG), a support organization of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), for its presidential candidate in the 2023 election,
Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday voiced concerns over the perceived lack of capacity of the government to address the escalating security challenges in Nigeria.
The group, in an interview with Arise TV, criticized the administration of President Tinubu, asserting that a government unable to provide security and tackle insurgency, terrorism, and banditry should not continue in office.
“A government that shows lack of capacity to provide security and apprehend insurgency, terrorism and banditry has no reason to continue in office.”
The spokesperson for NMG did not mince words, drawing attention to the severity of the situation by metaphorically describing Nigeria as a “jungle” under the nine years of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rule.
The group argued that the government seems to have lost touch with the grim reality of life for ordinary citizens.
“What does it mean,”
the spokesperson questioned,
“to see your home burning and decide to go sightseeing? It is the height of insensitivity and apathy.”
This vivid analogy paints a stark picture of the perceived disconnect between the ruling administration and the daily struggles of the Nigerian people.
Central to the NMG’s concerns is the rising wave of kidnappings and abductions across the country, the group asserted that the Federal Government must now bear the cost of these criminal activities through a well-structured compensation and refund policy.
