Former PDP candidate for governor of Ogun State, Segun Sowunmi, claimed that after Tinubu was elected president, he counseled him against picking people with a narrow political background.
He stated he was concerned that people would start to associate anything Tinubu does with a certain ethnic group.
In an interview with Channels TV, Sowunmi said it is not a surprise that people are thinking that Tinubu might be pushing a Yoruba-centric agenda with the decision to move a department of CBN from Abuja to Lagos.
In Sowunmi’s words:
“When you come into government and we tell you that don’t be parochial with your appointments, you are front loading the potential that almost everything you do will begin to have ethnic coloration.
Here we are today, when you take all these finance infrastructure and put it in one tribe and maybe then you now decided that based on what you are seeing you need to move one aspect of CBN to Lagos you need this and that, it is little wonder why everybody thinks you are running a Yorubanize agenda but I warned you”
