Senator Achononu expressed frustration at INEC’s move, which he described as a deliberate delay tactic by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The delay could hinder his petition filing, possibly leading to its dismissal on technical grounds. He called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to compel INEC to uphold transparency in the electoral process.
The LP candidate revealed that lawyers and experts were hired at a very huge cost per day N30 million, and they are not allowed to inspect the BVAS despite the court order. During the stakeholders’ meeting, he accused INEC of colluding with the ruling party in the state to announce results that were not signed, even when party agents raised objections about the credibility of those results.
Senator Achononu expressed hope that he would get justice in the judiciary, saying that all hope was not lost. He, however, insisted that INEC must uphold transparency in the electoral process and allow inspection of the BVAS, as ordered by the court.
