The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized the Appeal Court’s decision to overturn the election petition tribunal’s ruling in the Nasarawa state governorship election. In a statement released on Thursday, the party stated that it plans to seek legal recourse at the Supreme Court.
The PDP believes that the decision made by the Court of Appeal is not in accordance with the evidence presented during the tribunal proceedings and that their legal team has identified substantial grounds for appeal that warrant a review of the judgment by the Supreme Court. While the party upholds the judiciary and the principles of the rule of law, it remains firm in its opposition to the Court of Appeal’s judgment.
The PDP also expressed confidence in the legal system and its ability to ensure justice prevails. The party stated that it would be filing an appeal to the Supreme Court in pursuit of a fair and thorough examination of the Court of Appeal’s decision.
It should be noted that the Appellate Court ruled that the state election petitions tribunal had erred in declaring David Ombugadu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner of the election.
