The chairmen of three major political parties in Nigeria, namely All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdullahi Ganduje, Julius Abure and Umar Damagum respectively, arrived at the Supreme Court to hear the verdict on the appeals of LP and PDP presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar respectively, against the election of President Bola Tinubu, the APC candidate.
The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Atiku Abubakar’s lead counsel, Chris Uche SAN were also in court.
As the party chairmen arrived, they exchanged pleasantries and awaited the commencement of the sitting. It is worth noting that the court will air its judgment live.
Earlier, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal dismissed the petitions filed by Atiku and Obi, ruling that they failed to provide evidence to back their claims of electoral irregularities and malpractice.
