ADC vice-presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi has said he would walk away from his wife if she became president and ruled the way President Bola Tinubu is ruling.
He made the remark in an online interview.
He urged Nigerians to set aside religion, party loyalty and ethnicity and reject Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The former Rivers State governor said his close bond with his wife would not stop him from opposing her if her government performed like Tinubu’s.
ADC candidate has said he would either have to see her change or leave her.
He asked Nigerians to judge the president on his performance rather than personal ties.
He said the ADC’s team has not been tested in national office and deserves a chance, while Tinubu’s government has already been tested and, in his view, would bring more hardship.
Amaechi pointed to his own record as governor of Rivers State and as a former minister, and said voters can check his projects for themselves.
He also likened re-electing Tinubu to the computer principle of “garbage in, garbage out,” arguing that a bad government will produce bad results.
Rotimi told the Nigerians to vote in large numbers and guard their votes against rigging.
He pointed to the ongoing U.S. midterm voting, saying millions of Americans have already cast their ballots, and he called on Nigerians to stop anyone openly boasting that they will rig the election.
