Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele wants lawmakers, lawyers and government bodies to work together to protect women and children from new threats.
He spoke on Monday at the 2026 Law Week of the FIDA Ekiti chapter in Ekiti State.
The theme was “Justice in a Changing World.”
He named cyberbullying, online harassment, sexual exploitation and the sharing of intimate images without consent as growing dangers.
He said children are increasingly at risk from online predators, and women face digital threats and abuse.
Bamidele said justice must be easy to reach and affordable for victims, not just written into law.
He said women facing domestic violence should be able to seek protection without fear or shame, and abused children should get proper care.
He called for closer work between the National Assembly, state lawmakers, courts, police and social welfare agencies.
He also backed the Special Seats Bill, which aims to increase women’s representation in government.
He asked for proper funding for child protection and women’s health programmes, with checks to make sure the money is well spent.
He added that men, boys, families and communities all have a part to play in ending harmful practices.
