You probably did not know these facts about farting
A fart is the most embarrassing thing you can do in front of others would have to be farting, burping and letting out amusing sounds.
However, these are normal body functions that we need to release in order to be healthy and in normal condition. If we had to choose the most humiliating one of all, it would have to be farting. Apart from the funny noise it makes when releasing gases, it also gives off am awful odor.
Although we are all aware of the fact that farting is part of the digestive process and must take place, no matter how disturbing, it is still a mockery. We know about the farting process these things; but are there hidden facts we are unaware.
Here are 10 facts about farting you probably didn’t know:
1. Yes, you can light a fart on fire
Because flatulence is partly composed of flammable gases like methane and hydrogen, it can be briefly set on fire.
We don’t recommend it, because of the risk of injury, but if you have to see it, there are plenty of examples here.
2) 99 percent of the gas you produce does not smell
One of the reasons we produce so much more gas than we realize is that nearly all of it is odorless.
Hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and methane make up as much as 99 percent of the gas produced in our large intestines by volume. (They’re supplemented by air you swallow — more on that below.) All of these gases are odorless, which is why much of the time, farts don’t actually smell at all.
3. It is said that a normal human being is expected to fart over a dozen times every day. If not, you should go and see a doctor.
4. Those dozen farts day are enough to fill up a balloon. The air fart produce can be used to blow up one balloon.
5. Gum and soda can make you fart more
Apart from the gases produced by bacteria, a significant proportion of your flatulence is simply made up of inadvertently swallowed air. It doesn’t smell — it’s mostly nitrogen and oxygen — but it sounds and feels the same coming out.
Some of this swallowing goes on while you’re asleep, but it can be increased by drinking carbonated beverages (after all, you’re ingesting the carbonation) and by chewing gum.
6. Some people are sexually aroused by farts
The term for it is eproctophilia, and feel free to file it under “to each his own.” In other somewhat surprising news, research suggests that dropping a bomb during sex many not kill the mood. A survey from the University of California San Francisco-East Bay found 43 percent of women reported that they’d experienced “flatal incontinence” within the previous three months, but it didn’t stop them from having sex. Either way, here’s how to get rid of flatulence naturally.
7. While women don’t fart as much as men, their farts tend to smell more because they have greater levels of hydrogen sulfide. This makes the air they produce better for your health as well.
8. Out of all the animals and such, termites harvest the most fart. After that, follow sheep, camels, zebras, elephants, dogs and cows.
9. The next time your chew gum or drink soda, think twice. They increase your chances of farting. It’s also why you become habituated to the characteristic mix of odors produced by the bacteria inside your own body, which differs slightly from everyone else’s. As a result, your own farts just don’t have the same impact on you — even though they’re just as pungent for everyone else.
10. Compared to men, women contain more concentration of hydrogen sulfide, and therefore have smellier farts. However, they are healthier to smell than men’s are.
