Many of Vyas-Lahar’s go-to stress-relief “prescriptions” don’t require a doctor’s visit or a clinical diagnosis.So whether you’re looking for momentary anxiety relief or to develop a longer-term mindfulness practice, here’s what she and two other mental-health experts recommend.1. Meditation AppVyas-Lahar says mediation apps can be a great way to get into a mindfulness practice. She recommends that beginners watch the Netflix series by the meditation app company Headspace. The show is broken into eight, 20-ish-minute episodes that include guided meditations on topics like “how to let go” and “how to deal with stress.”If you’re hooked, download the Headspace app. It features an extensive library of guided meditations, including those for sleep and movement.Research suggests meditation programs can moderately improve anxiety, depression, and pain.
