Nigerian musicians make more money than Nollywood actors for a few simple reasons:
1. Global Fame.
Musicians like Davido and Burna Boy are known worldwide. Their music is played in many countries, which means they get more fans and more money. Nollywood actors are famous too, but mainly in Africa. They don’t reach as many people around the world.
2. Different Ways to Earn.
Musicians have many ways to make money. They get paid for their songs on music apps like Spotify and Apple Music. They also do concerts and shows where people pay to watch them perform. Musicians can even sell merchandise like t-shirts and hats with their names on them. Nollywood actors mostly just get paid for acting in movies. They don’t have as many ways to earn money.
3. Selling Music.
Musicians sell their songs and albums, which brings in a lot of money. People buy their music online or in stores. Nollywood actors don’t sell their movies the same way. Their movies are usually watched in theaters or on TV, so they don’t make as much money from selling them.
4. Brand Deals.
Musicians often get paid to promote products. They might appear in ads or post about products on social media. Companies pay them a lot of money for this. Nollywood actors also get brand deals, but not as many as musicians. Musicians are seen as cooler and more trendy, so companies like to work with them.
5. Live Shows.
Musicians make a ton of money from doing live shows and concerts. People buy tickets to see them perform, and sometimes companies sponsor these events. Musicians also get paid to perform at big festivals. Nollywood actors don’t have as many opportunities to make money from live shows. Their work is mostly seen on screens, not live in person.
