“The total number of traffic accidents in the fourth quarter of 2022 was 3,617, indicating an increase of 6.01 percent compared to the previous quarter, which recorded 3,412 and an increase of 6.16 percent compared to the 3,407 in the fourth quarter of 2021,” said the BNE.
He said that of all accidents, serious cases ranked first in the fourth quarter of 2022 with 2,411, compared to fatal and minor cases with 895 and 311 respectively.
In addition, the NBS said that fatal and serious cases increased in the analyzed quarter compared to the previous quarter by 24.31 percent and 3.17 percent respectively, while minor cases decreased by 12.39 percent. hundred.

As a result, the office said, a total of 1,309 men were killed in the fourth quarter of 2022, accounting for 81.41 percent of 1,608 people killed, compared to 299 (18.59 percent) women killed.
Furthermore, it said that a total of 7,789 men were injured during the period, accounting for 76.12 percent of 10,232 injured people compared to 2,443 (23.88 percent) injured women.
Vehicles involved
He explained that a total of 5,407 vehicles were involved in traffic accidents in the fourth quarter of 2022, a lower figure compared to the previous quarter, which recorded 5,421, indicating a decrease of 0.26 percent.
“The north center recorded the highest number of accidents in the fourth quarter of 2022 with 1,247, followed by the southwest with 862, while the south-south had the lowest number with 207,” he said.
Similarly, the report indicates that the center-north recorded the highest number of victims with 3,536, followed by the northwest with 2,855, while the south-south had the lowest number with 638.
Traffic accidents for the first quarter of 2023
In its road transport data report for the first quarter of 2023, the NBS said that the total number of traffic accidents in the first quarter of 2023 was 2,733, indicating a decrease of 24.44 percent compared to to the previous quarter, which recorded 3,617 and a drop of 18.30 percent from 3,345 in the first quarter. 2022.
The report says that of all accidents, serious cases ranked first in the first quarter of 2023 with 1,801, compared to fatal and minor cases with 677 and 255 respectively.

It added that a total of 1,185 men were killed in the first quarter of 2023, accounting for 82.23 percent of 1,441 people killed, compared to 256 (17.77 percent) women killed.
Furthermore, it said that a total of 6,386 men were injured during the period, accounting for 76.58 percent of 8,339 injuries compared to 1,953 (23.42 percent) women injuries.
