The items included coral fragments, over 160 tropical fish, 12 venomous sea snakes, actinium extracted from fish scales, and mushroom polyps. The traveler was headed towards Venezuela.

At Los Angeles airport, a TSA agent discovered two endangered birds that had been illegally smuggled out of the country by attaching them to a female passenger’s leg and breast using adhesive. The birds were placed inside a sock and secured with tape at both ends.
