The recent announcement made by Governor Carlos Soludo of Anambra State concerns free and mandatory education in public schools from nursery to junior secondary school (JSS 3).
The policy was unveiled at Premier Primary School in Obosi, Idemili North Council Area on Thursday. Governor Soludo expressed his strong desire to make comprehensive education a reality for all students, emphasizing that no student from nursery to JSS 3 grade should be subjected to school fees or any other form of payment in order to receive an education in the state.
The ultimate goal is to provide equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their financial backgrounds, by having them attend the same schools and compete on a level playing field. Transitional phrases can be used to connect ideas, so it is essential to provide equal opportunities for all students.
In our state, every school-going child now has the opportunity to receive quality education without any hindrance. From nursery to Junior Secondary School (JSS) level, education is now compulsory and free. This step is taken to guarantee the complete development of our children’s personalities, talents, and mental and physical abilities through basic education.
The governor has made it clear that non-compliance with the new policy will not be tolerated. Additionally, there will be significant infrastructure development in all state schools in the coming weeks. Community schools will be transformed into smart schools to provide sustainable and competent education.
To ensure the effective implementation of smart schools in the state, the governor, Soludo, has promised to establish the necessary mechanisms.
