The Nigerian government has extradited two brothers to the United States of America to stand trial for sexually extorting numerous young people and adolescents.
The brothers, with another accomplice, Ezekiel Robert, allegedly hacked into some social media accounts, posing as attractive young women to lure unsuspecting victims into submitting their sexually explicit photos.
One victim, Jordan DeMay, 17, of Marquette, Michigan, was said to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in March 2022.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which facilitated the extradition, said in a statement on Monday that Samuel Ogoshi and his brother, Samson Ogoshi, arrived in the United States on Sunday.
The EFCC statement, signed by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said the Ogoshi would be tried in a Western District of Michigan court.
The United States Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), also announcing that the brothers arrived in the US on Sunday, said they will appear in court on Monday (today).
The Nigerian government, through the office of the Federation Attorney General, had started extradition proceedings against the brothers and another accomplice, Ezekiel Robert, at the Abuja Federal High Court in December 2022. This followed a request from the FBI.
EFCC arrested the Ogoshis sometime in February 2023 around the Ojo de Lagos axis. Picked up Mr. Robert in Nasarawa.
Although the extradition suit against the brothers resulted in a verdict that sent them to the US for trial, Mr. Robert’s case is still pending in court.

Brothers extradited to the US for child exploitation and sextortion
The Lagos Economic and Financial Crimes Zonal Command, EFCC, on Sunday August 13, 2023, facilitated the extradition of Samuel Ogoshi and his brother, Samson, to the United States of America, to stand trial for sexually extorting numerous youth and teens in the Western District of Michigan and throughout the United States.
The Commission sometime in May 2023 initiated extradition proceedings in the Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division, against the Ogoshi along with Ezekiel Ejemeh Robert for exploitation of minors and production of pornography, following a request by the Commission. The Ogoshis and Ezekiel were indicted in United States Federal Court on December 1, 2022 on charges of child exploitation resulting in death, conspiracy to sexually exploit minors causing minors to produce child pornographic images that the defendants now they use to blackmail them. .
In addition, they are charged with conspiracy to distribute child pornography, which borders on sending images to minors, their families and friends, as well as conspiracy to commit harassment over the Internet.
The offenses carry a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison.
Specifically, Samuel was charged with causing the death of Jordan DeMay, 17, of Marquette, Michigan, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in March 2022.
