During his investiture as the grand patron of the Catholic Men’s Organisation (CMO) of the Catholic Archdioceses of Benin, Philip Shaibu, Deputy Governor of Edo State, expressed his desire to work together with Governor Godwin Obaseki to finish strong. Mr. Shaibu apologized to the Governor if he had unknowingly offended him and pledged his loyalty to the governor and the state.
Mr. Shaibu and Mr. Obaseki have had disagreements regarding Mr. Shaibu’s ambition to contest the 2024 governorship election. As a result, the governor has relocated his deputy to a new office outside of the government house and disbanded his media crew.
Mr. Shaibu called on the governor to forgive any mistakes he may have made and expressed his desire to work together to develop the state. He hopes to sustain the relationship they previously had.
During the investiture, Mr. Shaibu was honored as the grand patron of the CMO by the Catholic Men’s Organisation of the Archdiocese of Benin City. The president of the organization, Austin Odigie, praised Mr. Shaibu’s commitment to God’s work in the church.

He believes that when you realize that the life you have is not yours, you have no reason not to serve God.
