Concerned members of the community, noticing the absence of the children, promptly alerted the police on Wednesday. Responding to the tip-off, a team of policemen visited the premises and forcibly opened the door, leading to the discovery of the children inside the room. It was observed that the toddlers appeared malnourished, prompting the immediate arrest of the suspect at the scene.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, stating that the information was received around 4 pm on Wednesday at the Ikotun Police Division. The team, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly intervened, rescuing the children and transporting them to the station for further assistance.
Hundeyin emphasized the dire condition of the children, describing them as malnourished and in poor health. The suspect, Fatimo Ganiyu, was apprehended, while the infants were transferred to receive the necessary medical attention and care. Investigations into the matter are currently underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure appropriate action is taken.
