Following a ruling by a Federal Capital Territory High Court on Monday, Abubakar was ordered to pay the substantial sum to Apostle Suleman as damages.

The court’s decision stemmed from accusations that Abubakar published derogatory remarks against Apostle Suleman on her Instagram page, subsequently picked up and circulated by various blogs and newspapers.Justice Enobie Obanor, presiding over the case, emphasized that Abubakar was granted the opportunity to present her defense but failed to do so.

In the judgement, Justice Obanor highlighted the defamatory nature of the statements published by Abubakar, branding them as “false and malicious” and harmful to the reputation of Apostle Suleman.
As a result, the court awarded Apostle Suleman the sum of N10,000,000 as aggravated and exemplary damages for the libel contained in Abubakar’s publications.
