There are reports that Nigerian Ministers are in panic mode as President Bola Tinubu prepares to reshuffle his cabinet ahead of his first anniversary in office on May 29, 2024. The President is set to launch a three-step approach to evaluate his Ministers and heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The aim is to assess the performance of each Minister and to determine which Minister stays and those that will leave the cabinet because of poor performance.
The first stage will involve members of the public, who can access relevant information on the President’s targets for each Ministry and provide feedback on the performance of each Minister based on the targets provided. The next stage will be an evaluation carried out by the Policy Coordination office, and lastly, a group of Consultants will also give their assessments on the Minister’s performance.
According to Hadiza Bala-Usman, President Tinubu “will drop ministers who do not deliver on their mandates.” Bala-Usman made this statement at a technical retreat organized for delivery desk officers of federal ministries in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital. The delivery desk officers are expected to provide feedback, track ministerial progress, report challenges, and bottle to the CDCU.
