A 26-year-old Busia woman, Violet Olinga, who vanished in 2023, was discovered at Kenyatta National Hospital’s (KNH) morgue. Leaving her Githurai 44 home unlocked with uneaten food, Violet’s mysterious disappearance sparked months of searching by her distraught family.
Their quest took a heartbreaking turn when a Facebook post revealed an unidentified girl’s body at KNH. To their dismay, Violet had given birth in August 2023 via Caesarean section but tragically passed away the following day. Left behind was her newborn son, Favor Imosi.
The family’s sorrow deepened as they faced a daunting challenge – unable to bury Violet due to mounting mortuary and ward bills exceeding KSh 250,000. The landlord, recounting Violet’s sudden departure, added another layer of sadness to the story.
The heartbreaking revelation came through an online post about an unclaimed girl in the mortuary. Investigating further, the family learned that Violet had checked herself into KNH on August 8, undergone a C-section a day later, and succumbed to fate the subsequent day. Despite the hospital caring for baby Favor Imosi, they couldn’t locate Violet’s family.
