On Tuesday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde peacefully joined the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in a protest. The demonstration started from the NLC state secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, and the workers marched to different locations, with the governor joining them at Gate-Nta-Yemetu roundabout.

During the protest, Governor Makinde addressed the workers and acknowledged the prevailing hardship. He reassured them that the difficulties would soon be resolved. The governor expressed his commitment to being part of the generation that works towards fixing the challenges faced by the country.

“I am aware of the hardship in town and the difficulty the people are going through, but I will be part of the generation that will fix the country,” Governor Makinde said.

The state NLC Chairman, Kayode Martins, highlighted the unbearable cost of living and emphasized the people’s frustration.

“The cost of living in Nigeria today is nothing to write home about, and the people are fed up. That’s why we are on the street now,” Martins lamented.
