Olisa Agbakoba, the former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has voiced his worry for Nigeria and warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about the economic discontent that is brewing in the country. According to Agbakoba, if not addressed, this could potentially lead to a “slow revolt” nationwide.

In an interview with BusinessDay, Agbakoba expressed his deep concern about the economic hardship faced by millions of Nigerians and called for urgent interventions to avoid potential social unrest.

Agbakoba pointed out the palpable frustration and anger prevailing in the nation due to the worsening cost-of-living crisis. He noted that the present discontent is remarkable, particularly concerning the growing inability of Nigerians to cope with the skyrocketing cost of living. The former NBA president emphasized the adage “a hungry man is an angry man” encapsulates the prevailing sentiment among the populace.

Agbakoba expressed his apprehension about the future of Nigeria and highlighted the rapidly growing revolt across the country due to the high cost of living. He called on President Tinubu to take decisive action to address the discontent by communicating hope and outlining a clear plan for overcoming the economic challenges.
