A veteran Kannywood actor, Shu’aibu Abdullahi, also known as Karkuzu, has called on Nigerians to come to his aid as he has gone blind and is unable to feed his family due to poverty.
The famous actor uploaded a short video of himself on Facebook in which he called on the public to help him financially because he has been ill for the past three years.
Karkuzu debuted in the Hausa entertainment industry in the 1980s with his popular drama series, ‘Karkuzu na Bodara’, earning him the nickname.
The weekly TV series aired on NTA every Tuesday at 7 pm
“Now I’m blind while talking to you. I really need financial help. I have no food to feed myself and my family.
“The house I have been living in is now up for sale. If they sell this house, I don’t know where to go. That is why I am requesting the help of well meaning Nigerians to come to my aid. At least Nigerians should help me buy this house that I live in. The doctors said it’s glaucoma and I’d never see again.”
The actor called on Nigerians to help him and buy him the house he lives in so he can use the money to feed himself and his family.
Karkuzu is not the only veteran of Hausa film entertainment struggling to survive due to illness and poverty.
Some have died and others are battling health problems and poverty.

Hassana Dalhat, a film promoter from Kannywood, told Newslodge that Karkuzu is in pathetic condition and called on the “big shots” in the industry to help him.
“I’ve seen him. In fact, he’s in a sorry state. He needs help.”
Ms. Dalhat also called on the northern elites to come to her aid.
She said: “Our parents and older brothers enjoyed this man in the ’80s; we also enjoyed it in Kannywood in the ’90s through the late 2000s. They should do something about it.”
